Essential nutrients naturally tasty
OKAPI Rose Hips are a high-quality complementary feed for horses, made from whole, dried rose hips. They contain natural oils and are especially beneficial during the coat change and in the winter months. Rose hips can be sprinkled over feed or hay and provide a healthy way to keep horses occupied. They are a natural source of vitamins and help promote the animals’ overall well-being.
OKAPI Rose Hips are generally suitable for all horses, as they offer a natural, nutrient-rich supplement. They are free from grains, additives such as preservatives, and essential oils, making them particularly well tolerated. Rose hips are rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and dietary fibre, which can help support the horse’s immune system and overall health. These properties also make them suitable for good doers that do not require additional concentrates. Rose hips can be a valuable addition to the daily feed ration, as long as they are offered in appropriate quantities.
OKAPI Rose Hips can be easily combined with other products to complement your horse’s diet.
OKAPI Rose Hips should ideally be fed over a period of 4 to 8 weeks, especially during the coat change or in the winter months. However, regular feeding can be adjusted as needed, depending on the horse’s condition and individual requirements.
OKAPI Rose Hips can be fed in a variety of ways to enrich your horse’s diet. They can be given as a treat directly by hand or mixed into the daily feed. Another option is to sprinkle them over the hay to encourage foraging behaviour. Alternatively, they can be scattered in the paddock to provide additional stimulation and keep the horse engaged.
To calculate the appropriate dosage for OKAPI Rose Hips, follow these steps:
1. Determine your horse’s weight: The horse’s weight can be measured using a scale, weight tape, or apps like the BCI App from our partner Sanoanimal, available for free on Google Play and Apple Store).
2. Follow the feeding recommendation: The general recommendation for OKAPI products is based on a 600 kg horse. TThe suggested amount is 5 to 10 rose hips per day.
3. Adjust the dosage: For a horse weighing 300 kg, the amount should be halved, which equals approximately 2.5 to 5 rose hips per day. For a horse weighing 450 kg, the correct dose can be calculated as follows: (5 to 10 rose hips / 600 kg) × 450 kg, which results in a daily amount of 3.75 to 7.5 rose hips.
This calculation method allows you to determine the appropriate amount of OKAPI Rose Hips for horses of varying weights.
