Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making okapi-shop.com usable by everyone — in line with WCAG 2.2 AA and the Equality Act 2010
Last updated: April 2026 · Next review: October 2026
Our commitment
Everyone should be able to shop with us
Equinutrients Ltd is committed to making okapi-shop.com accessible to as many people as possible, including users with disabilities. We believe accessibility is not a feature but a basic expectation, and we are continuously working to improve the user experience for everyone.
This Accessibility Statement explains the standards we aim to meet, the steps we have taken so far, the limitations we know about, and how you can contact us if something on our website is not working for you.
AA
Target standard: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA — the standard recommended by the UK Government Digital Service and aligned with the European Accessibility Act (EAA).
Legal framework
The standards we follow
This Accessibility Statement is published in accordance with:
- The Equality Act 2010, under which service providers in the UK have a duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled users;
- The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), applicable to our customers in the European Union since June 2025;
- The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, published by the W3C, at conformance Level AA.
Accessibility features
What we have done so far
We have designed okapi-shop.com to support the following accessibility features:
Keyboard navigation
All key functions can be used with a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
Screen reader support
Pages are structured with semantic headings and landmarks for compatibility with common screen readers.
Alternative text
All product and content images include descriptive alt text where they convey meaning.
Colour contrast
Body text and key interface elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
Resizable text
Text can be enlarged up to 200% in your browser without breaking the layout.
Clear language
Product descriptions and policy pages are written in plain English wherever possible.
Responsive design
Pages adapt to mobile, tablet and desktop screens, including assistive zoom levels.
Form labels
All input fields have visible labels and clear error messages.
Known limitations
Areas we are still working on
We are honest about the fact that not every part of our website yet meets WCAG 2.2 AA in full. The following areas have been identified for improvement and are on our roadmap:
- Older PDF documents — some downloadable PDFs (such as historical product information sheets) may not be fully tagged for screen readers. New PDFs published from April 2026 onwards are accessible.
- Embedded video — not all videos currently include captions or transcripts. We are adding captions to existing content and require captions on all new videos.
- Third-party widgets — some elements provided by third parties (e.g. payment providers, cookie consent banners, customer review widgets) may not yet meet our accessibility standards. We work with our suppliers to address known issues.
- Decorative images — a small number of older decorative images may not yet be marked correctly as decorative. This is being reviewed.
Note for Carsten: This list is intentionally honest because UK courts and regulators look favourably on businesses that disclose known limitations and a remediation plan, rather than claiming full conformance. Update this list as you complete improvements.
Assistive technology
Tested with the following tools
We test okapi-shop.com regularly with a combination of automated and manual checks. Tools and assistive technologies we use include:
- Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), TalkBack (Android);
- Browser zoom up to 400%;
- Keyboard-only navigation tests;
- Automated audits using axe DevTools and Lighthouse.
If you use a different assistive technology and encounter a problem, we want to hear about it — please contact us using the details below.

Continuous improvement
How we keep improving
Accessibility is a continuous process, not a one-off task. We review this statement at least every 6 months, after every major redesign or feature release, and whenever we receive substantive feedback from users.
