Product Description

OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs are a pure herbal mixture, primarily featuring herbs from the “Anise-Cumin-Fennel Helpers” spectrum, which are also very popular among humans when dealing with occasional tummy troubles. This mix is particularly suitable for horses prone to bloating, which may manifest as a round belly or frequent flatulence at the start of a riding session. These herbs support the natural gut environment of the horse and are therefore also suitable as part of colon restoration measures, for example, as a replacement for or in rotation with OKAPI Bitter Herbs.

In principle, OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs are suitable for adult horses of all ages and breeds.

OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs can be easily combined with other products. We recommend combining it with OKAPI Lapacho bark and OKAPI ColoBalance for further support of the gut flora.

Feeding recommendations

OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs should not be given for longer than six to eight weeks at a time. After this period, a break of four to six weeks is recommended, or a switch to another herbal mixture. This approach also aligns with the horse’s natural feeding behaviour. A proven method is alternating between OKAPI Bitter Herbs and OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs in a two-week rotation throughout the winter.

OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs can be directly incorporated into the horse’s existing feed and can be added dry or moistened to the feed or sprinkled over the hay.

How do I calculate the correct dosage for my horse?

To calculate the appropriate dosage for OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs, follow these steps:

1. Determine your horse’s weight: The horse’s weight can be measured using a scale, weight tape, or apps like the BCI App from our partner Sanoanimal, available for free on Google Play and Apple Store).

2. Follow the feeding recommendation: The general recommendation for OKAPI products is based on a 600 kg horse. The recommended daily amount is 30 g to 50 g (approximately one handful).

3. Adjust the dosage: If, for example, your horse weighs 300 kg, the dosage should be adjusted accordingly. The calculation would be: Daily dose (50 g) / 600 kg × Horse’s weight (300 kg) = Daily ration (25 g).

This calculation method allows you to determine the appropriate amount of OKAPI Intestinal Support Herbs for horses of varying weights.
